Thinking about birthdays…

Thinking about birthdays…

It’s my birthday next week. I have a love/hate relationship with birthdays but they’re becoming more enjoyable as S gets older. Except for last year, obviously – she was so ill with chicken pox our planned weekend away was replaced with a mad dash to the GP for antibiotics! This year people have been asking me what I would like for my birthday, and as usual I am short on ideas. My lifestyle means that I don’t really need a lot of things – actually what I probably need is a good clear out of this cluttered old house! Looking back over previous birthdays, I realise now that I don’t remember gifts so much as experiences. I remember going to Glastonbury (the town, not the festival) on my 18th birthday; I remember having a Science GCSE on my 16th. I remember one year going camping at a beautiful campsite on my birthday. The one exception to this would be last year’s gift from S; she gave me four brightly coloured plastic cups, the kind...
Balancing motherhood alongside the professional life

Balancing motherhood alongside the professional life

It is a divine feeling, yes. But let’s not forget how some mothers are pushed into PPD after giving birth to a baby. For those of you who don’t know PPD is Postpartum Depression that occurs quite often in mums after the baby is born. Sure, the months of pregnancy are passed by happily waiting for the little one to come and...

Summer plans – travel, work and family

As we seem to be moving through June at an alarming rate, I am currently making some plans for the Summer holidays, which will be upon us very soon. Most kids are due to break up around July 20th, so I am currently planning a range of things to do to keep Joe occupied. In addition, I am looking at ideas for my wedding anniversary, as I usually go away for a special weekend with the hubby, and also some blog plans for the Summer in order to further improve the performance, perhaps investing in some seo services in order to achieve this. Summer is always my favourite time of the year, I love the fashion, the weather (generally – at least if we get a Summer, which does seem to be happening this year – hurrah!), the long days and light nights, and everything else that summer entails. I also find myself to be more productive at this time of the year, which may or may not be linked to the sunshine. This summer may well be the time when I...
